The
Divine Literary Tour would like to salute our
2007
Scholarship Recipient and Student Scholar of the Year:
Cameron
Khalfani Obuya Herman,
a 2007 Honor Graduate of Georgia State University.
Cameron
graduated with a 3.35 GPA and earned a degree in African
American Studies, he also attended Western Carolina University
where he majored in Accounting and Corporate Finance.
Cameron embodies the principals
of Greek unity, scholarship and service all ideals that must be personified
by members of Black Greek leader organizations if we are to survive another
100 years, and just not in an iconic status. A member of Alpha Phi Alpha
Fraternity Incorporated he follows in the steps of other Notable Alpha Men
like Dr. Martin Luther King and Thurgood Marshall. While at Georgia State
Cameron was both a Student Leader and Scholar-Activist. He has served as a
conference presenter at the National Council for Black Studies, The Ronald
McNair Scholars Research Conference and for the Annual Association for the
Study of African American Life and History.
Cameron’s Senior Research
Project: “Does Going Greek Make you More Black? Racial Identity
Development amongst Members of Black Fraternities and Sororities on a
Predominantly While Urban University” – Has earned rave reviews and
accolades.
He serves as a volunteer
coordinator to help facilitate financial literacy workshops.
His Other Research Projects

on Auburn Avenue: The Exploratory Analysis of the Atlanta Life
Insurance Company and its Role in the Maintenance of the Mutual Aid
Community Before and After the Atlanta Racial Massacre of 1906”

He was awarded the Carter G.
Woodson/Annette Lucille Hall Graduation Award, the Alpha Phi Alpha Georgia
District Undergraduate Award, the Kenneth M. England Scholarship Award for
Outstanding Contributions to Greek Life. The immediate Past Vice-President
of his fraternity, and the current NPHC President, Cameron is well on his
way to making his way in the world.
The first to attend College in
his family, Cameron will be attending graduate school at the University of
Louisville this fall where he will study Pan-African Studies.
