Mr. Lacy graduated, Cum Laude, from Alabama A&M University (AAMU) with dual Bachelor of Science Degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Mechanical Design Technology.
While matriculating through AAMU, he was a starting forward for the men’s varsity basketball team. He also maintained his status as an “Honor Athlete.”
In addition, he was initiated into several different organizations – Sigma Tao Epsilon, a professional fraternity, Alpha Kappa Mu National Honor Society; Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated; Tau Alpha Pi, an Engineering and Technological National Honor Society, and the National Society of Black Engineers.
Also when Marc was on “the yard”, he was often sought for various speaking engagements and to deliver presentations as a means of enhancing student life and morale on campus.
Often referred to as a “left and right brain” type of guy, Marc’s Gemini-esque character is highlighted by the fact that he is a Government Contractor by day and disc-jockey/audio specialist by night. He is also the CEO of AVO Publishing, under which his literary works and audio recordings have been published and produced.
In having toured the nation, Marc is most noted for his smooth flowing lyrics and creative mind which are exuded in his eloquently written poetry. But also a beast is awoken within as he delivers his often-charged and thought provoking spoken word performances. By offering a wide range of subject matter in his work, Marc has been able to cover a lot of ground within his craft. Marc’s “versatile” writing and performance (through God’s blessings) have played a big factor in his book, The Looking Heart, and CD, REFlux winning several literary awards. In the Spring of 2007, Marc will grace us with another best selling book of poetry entitled: Rock and Fire along with another super CD: Lost in The City of Poetry.
Involvement is no stranger to Marc. He holds current memberships in the following organizations: Twenty Distinguished Young Men of Huntsville; North Alabama – National Society of Black Engineers – Alumni Extension; Delta Theta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated; Art-N-Soul Society of Expression, and Alabama A&M Alumni Association – Huntsville Progressive Chapter. Marc is an active member of Church Street Cumberland Presbyterian Church in American where he is considered the Poet in residence. In addition to his many activities, he is an engineer and a disc-jockey/audio visual specialist.
